Naomi Alderman's new novel The Power is the hottest literary property in town with nearly a dozen companies reportedly bidding for the television rights. It's sci-fi with a feminist twist which imagines what happens if girls possessed the power to electrocute. "With a flick of their fingers, they can inflict agonising pain and even death," says the online blurb. Ouch!
