Former Conservative Foreign Secretary Malcolm Rifkind has held his Kensington seat with a comprehensive victory.

He received more than half the votes polled. His 17,595 votes provided a majority of 8,616 and a swing of 5.2 per cent from Labour to the Conservatives.

Sir Malcolm is a former multiple Secretary of State, having held cabinet roles for Scotland, Transport and Defence before moving to the Foreign Office in John Major’s administration.

After losing his Edinburgh Pentlands seat in the 1997 Labour landslide he returned to Westminster to represent Kensington and Chelsea in 2005.
