When Jane Myers enjoyed a night of theatre with family and friends, the venue was unusual - her house. The Edgware Synagogue member was one of 30 people chosen to take part in Theatre Royal Stratford East's Home Theatre project.

Performers devise a tailor-made one-person show based on the stories of the host family.

Citizen Kanya by Jack Brown was partly inspired by the experiences of Mrs Myers's late father, Albo Habib, whose family fled Libya in the wake of the Six-Day War. "It was amazing," she said. "We started in the garden, moved to the kitchen and ended in the lounge."

The production, which was "funny and poignant" she said, can be seen on Youtube.
