David Cameron will be UJIA’s guest

articlemain

Prime Minister David Cameron is to be the special guest of honour at next week’s United Joint Israel Appeal annual dinner, taking place in central London.

It will be his first face-to-face encounter with a large section of the Jewish community since his appearance at August’s Guildhall event to mark the 40th anniversary of the murdered Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

On that occasion, speaking at a private reception before the main ceremony, the prime minister said Britain stood side by side with Israel in its determination to hunt down terrorists, a message he has frequently repeated when addressing the community.

Last month it emerged that Mr Cameron had sent the head of MI6, Sir John Sawers, to Jerusalem as his personal emissary, to tell Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to wind down the rhetoric and back down from launching a military attack on Iran.

The Prime Minister is also due to be the guest of honour at the Conservative Friends of Israel lunch in December.
