Piano protégé Curtis Bushell has achieved what many musicians can only dream of - and he is just four years old.

Curtis, a pupil at Manor Lodge in Shenley, Herts, has landed himself a recording contract. He is believed to be the one of the youngest people ever to do so.

He is also considered the youngest person to pass their grade one piano exam, now playing at a Grade three standard.

Curtis has been signed to perform alongside his concert-pianist mother Hayley Elton on the CD, Mozart, Mummy and Me (Halo Records). The single, which is out at the end of the month, is designed to send youngsters to sleep.

So, what does Curtis want to be when he gets older? A doctor of course. He tells People: "I want to be like all the doctors, not like mummy." Yet, the toddler, taught to play by his mother, who has coached stars including Victoria Beckham and Jonathan Ross, practices for ten minutes every other day. He lives in Whetstone, North London, and has a younger sister, Sophia, three.
