Voting has now closed. The winner will be announced at the Jewish Volunteering Network’s award evening on 7 September. If you are interested in attending, please email hilary@jvn.org.uk

A wheelchair user and a retired teacher have been nominated for an award for outstanding volunteers.

Ruth Rolle and Peter Lewinson are contenders for the JC’s People’s Choice Award, in association with the Jewish Volunteering Network and were nominated by the charities that they volunteer for.

Ms Rolle, who is confined to a wheelchair, volunteers for South London Community Support Service , which aids the south-London Jewish community and is funded by Jewish Care and Nightingale. She said: “Volunteering gives me a chance to make people’s lives easier.”
