'X Factor moment' for entrepreneurs

articlemain

Two twentysomethings keen to improve Jewish life in London have won a £3,300 award to advance their idea.

Magen David Adom fundraising head Daniel Rickman, 28, and law student Charlotte Hamilton, 25, pitched an idea for an online portal for young professionals to investors at the Jewish Student Leadership Foundation's annual convention in Jerusalem.

Mr Rickman said winning the major prize from the 1,800 entrants was "our X Factor moment. We never in our wildest dreams expected to win the whole thing".

He said that although "Jewish life in London is great, people aren't aware of the different opportunities that are out there." He and Ms Hamilton - next door neighbours as infants - met again in October through a Jewish organisation. They are looking to raise a further £20,000 from investors.
