The independent West End Great Synagogue has found a new home after announcing its departure from Western Marble Arch Synagogue for financial reasons.
From the beginning of next month, the 362-member congregation will hold services a little further down the road at the Central Synagogue.
WEG members were told the arrangement would be for a trial period of a year and in no way represented a merger.
The congregation took the decision to leave Western Marble Arch after being asked to pay higher contributions.
"We had several options open to us," explained president Harvey Lawrence. "After serious consideration, we felt it was in the best interests of our membership to associate ourselves with the Central Synagogue.
"We have in recent times had a strong Shabbat minyan with Chabad of Bloomsbury. Those members who wish to continue joining with Chabad are being welcomed to their services. In this way we feel we are supporting two minyan communities within the West End."
The Lubavitch group will be holding services for the next two weeks at Western Marble Arch before returning to its central London base.
