articlemain

Over 50 Jewish members of HM Forces and their families gathered in Andover for a Shabbaton under the direction of senior Jewish chaplain Rabbi Reuben Livingstone. Topics discussed during the weekend ranged from the role of religion in the services to the current terrorism threat.

Jewish Committee for HM Forces chair Colonel Martin Newman said the annual weekend afforded participants the opportunity to experience a traditional Shabbat, "discuss matters of faith, learn, relax and meet up with fellow Jews who serve this country. The weekend is part sponsored by B'nai B'rith UK and we are grateful for their support."

The next major event for the Jewish Armed Forces community will a special service Germany in April marking the liberation of Belsen by British and Canadian troops.
