articlemain

In the local elections held outside London on general election day, seven Hertsmere Jewish Tories were re-elected, including last year's mayor, Paul Morris, and the council leader, Morris Bright. New faces on the council are Rabbi Alan Plancey - who is already a Hertfordshire county councillor - and Gary Silver. Charles Goldstein, Caroline Clapper, Farida Turner, Linda Silver and Harvey Cohen were the other Tory victors.

Bournemouth Tories Anne and Michael Filer, Mike Greene and Lawrence Williams were also successful at the polls.

In Liverpool, Jeremy Wolfson was re-elected for Labour in Childwall ward with a majority exceeding 3,000.
