articlemain

Young professionals raised £45,000 for Alzheimer's research at the Weizmann Institute at a reception at Christie's in London.

The "Science and Sushi" event was the first organised by the new Young Weizmann committee and attracted 350 guests, who enjoyed a private viewing of Christie's 2015 Impressionist and Modern Art auction.

Weizmann neurobiology professor Noam Sobel explained how his research had brought advances in diagnosing autism.

Joint chairs Jonathan and Salomon Aaron said: "Scientists at the Weizmann Institute are revising what is known about Alzheimer's in order to help find a cure. All proceeds raised from this evening are going towards this life-changing research."

Weizmann UK executive director Sheridan Gould was "truly delighted to see a younger generation of UK philanthropists taking up this challenge and becoming part of the process of supporting scientists to work wonders for the future".
