Former Mitzvah Day interim chief executive Sue Shefras led a cross-communal team of MD volunteers who cooked Sunday lunch for 40 homeless people at a shelter run by St Mungo’s Broadway in central London.

The lunch was part of the Mitzvah Day 365 initiative, which encourages good deeds all year round.

“Mitzvah Day in November is incredible but it’s also important to keep up that volunteering throughout the year,” Ms Shefras said. “So every month we will get a group of volunteers together to cook Sunday lunch for those less fortunate at different locations across London.

St Mungo’s clients enjoyed a three-course meal of vegetable soup, roast chicken with all the trimmings and apple crumble. They also received gifts of fruit, homemade cakes, DVDs and winter clothing.
