The height-fearing headmaster of Leeds' Jewish primary is to plunge 300 feet in order to raise money for his school's library.
Jeremy Dunford, who heads Brodetsky Primary in Alwoodley, is attempting to raise £5,000 for a state-of-the-art digital book logging system for the school. It includes an online database of activities linked to each book which pupils can access at home.
The bungee-jump is scheduled for May 15 over Salford Quays and was the idea of the school's site manager Nigel Barton, an ex-member of the Parachute Regiment and experienced at jumping from great heights. But Mr Dunford said he suffers from severe vertigo. "I don't even like climbing ladders. My wife is horrified, but I've asked for an ice cream at the bottom as my incentive."
