The joke is on museum

articlemain

Manchester Jewish Museum is offering free August admission for a month of "experimental" activities.

It is part of a development project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, which last year awarded the museum £426,900 towards an extension and restoration work.

During August, different sounds and voices will be played inside the building. There are plans for a museum choir, bread-making workshops and storytelling sessions. Passing commuters will also be involved with a Jewish joke being unveiled weekly on an exterior noticeboard.

"Some experiments may work, some may not," said chief executive Max Dunbar. "That's the great thing about this process as we learn important lessons through small experiments. We're hoping to get feedback which can be fed into plans for the new Jewish Museum."
