articlemain

On the eve of the first Ashes Test, Essex and former England batsman Owais Shah visited the cross-communal JCoSS school in Barnet for a coaching session.

Shah taught pupils a range of shots before focusing on bowling skills. Harrison Leighton even managed to bowl out Shah, winning him tickets to an Essex game. The other participating students were Sammy Bradley, Tom Stepsky, Jonathan Brown, Jack Brown, Sam Taylor, Jacob Freedland, Ryan Isaacs, Jamie Smith, Jonathan Jennycloss, Max Schindler, Jake Segal, Jamie Lesser, Saul Fenton, Josh Levi, Tshepo Raphael-Khara and Sam Lakeland.

There was also a Q&A session in which Shah was quizzed about his cricketing heroes, career highlights and the best bowlers he had faced.
