Taking big steps for kids

articlemain

The work of Step by Step in helping young people with disability through sport and leisure has been praised by the chair of the BBC's Children in Need.

Addressing the charity's 20th anniversary celebration at Alexandra Palace ice rink, Stevie Spring noted that Children In Need had been supporting Step by Step for a number of years. "It's such a special organisation, making a huge difference to the lives of disabled children and their families."

A presentation was made to founding member Faigy Schischa by Step by Step chief executive Judith Schaechter, who said: "Without Faigy's vision and dedication Step by Step would not be the organisation it is today, ensuring each child with disabilities is empowered to fulfil his or her full potential.

"Faigy has allowed Step by Step to grow from a small organisation running a single weekly activity to one that provides daily quality activities tailored to the individual needs of over 130 children and their families."
