Survivor charity runs out of cash

articlemain

A film shown during the London Yom HaShoah ceremony was a valedictory statement from the Six Point Foundation as the charity, supporting Holocaust survivors and refugees, is expected to have exhausted its funding by next March.

The foundation received a £4 million endowment from the Otto Schiff Housing Association for grants, particularly for those experiencing hardship. Additional funding came for the SPF Connect project, enabling survivors or refugeees to get online.

Of the £4 million, £1.2 milllion has been distributed to individuals and £2.5 million to organisations. Although the remaining cash is spoken for, SPF executive director Susan Cohen pledged to help new cases meeting its "need criteria".

She thanked the Yom HaShoah ceremony organisers for "allowing us to highlight that 'never forget' also means never forgetting those who experienced the horrors of Nazi oppression and are still with us".
