Suburb's big food drive bears fruit

articlemain

A giant fruit salad prepared by 300 Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue volunteers on Saturday night has benefited the less fortunate.
More than 2,200 portions were made up from fruit donated by congregants.

Around 1,500 were delivered to homeless shelters and hostels in Camden and central London. The remainder were distributed to families in Barnet and Hackney.

The venture was organised by the shul's chesed committee.

HGS's Rabbi Anthony Knopf said: "It was wonderful to see so many synagogue members, including lots of children, come together to support such a fantastic event."
