Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Scottish Labour leader Jim Murphy are among signatories of a cross-party statement of support to the Jewish community in the wake of rising antisemitism across Europe.
As well as expressing "sadness and concern about the recent antisemitic terrorist murders in Paris and Copenhagen", the political leaders acknowledged that Scotland's "traditionally positive relationship with its Jewish population" could be undermined by events elsewhere.
"[We] come together unreservedly to condemn all manifestations of antisemitism in Scotland and to assert Scotland's warm desire that Jewish people should feel safe, completely at home and a key part of the multi-cultural Scottish community."
Police reported a substantial rise in antisemitic incidents in Scotland in the second half of 2014.
