Wimbledon Synagogue has started work on a book of its members' spiritual reflections.
They have been asked to submit contributions which record a "moment of meaning" or "something significant in your soul".
Rabbi Sylvia Rothschild said some had written prayers, others had contributed stories about experiences which were special for them.
"A lot of people are talking now about what does it mean to belong to a synagogue or to feel they believe in God," she said.
The planned anthology would be "a snapshot of a searching Jewish community in the 21st century".
