Belmont Synagogue landed a top prize at the Board of Deputies media awards on Sunday.

Barbara Mazliah picked up the magazine of the year award on behalf of Stuart Burns the editor of the shul’s publication, Belmonde, at a ceremony at the Board’s London headquarters.

New Board president Vivian Wineman welcomed the 60 delegates and JC managing editor Richard Burton who spoke about the changing world of publishing. The panellists, including broadcaster Clive Roslin, Vic Aboudara, Danny Bermant and Marcel Knobil then took questions on media issues.

Award winners were Jonny Newton from Woodside Park Synagogue, who won the Hetty Cresswell silver inkwell award; Bromley Reform for its website; Leeds Etz Chaim for its newsletter; Luton synagogue won in a new category of small shul magazine; Media Mad Leeds for its website and its professional publication; and Immanuel College won best community publication.
