South London’s first Jewish school, the Mosaic primary, held an induction day for its initial 30 pupils who will start in September. They met their teacher, Katie Barton, tried on the school uniform and explored Mosaic’s temporary premises in Queensmere Road, Wimbledon — the permanent site will be in neighbouring Roehampton.
“We are so thrilled to welcome the children and their families,” said Mosaic head Kate Baum. “This is the first time they have been into the furnished classrooms and they are realising a dream that we have all worked towards for so long.”
Ms Barton hoped “the chance to see their classrooms, meet their classmates and familiarise themselves with their surroundings will help many of our children with the big step of starting school in September. We have also taken the opportunity to arrange home visits so we can talk to the children in their own surroundings.”
