South London primary has home start

articlemain

The cross-communal South London Jewish Primary School has found a temporary home at Wimbledon and District (Reform) Synagogue.

Although a number of accommodation options were considered, the synagogue’s upper floor, “with its separate entrance and garden, is seen as the most suitable by the Education Funding Agency, who represent the Department for Education on site issues”, project leaders explained in a statement.

At an open meeting at Roehampton University for parents of prospective pupils at the school — due to open next September — head-teacher designate Kate Baum said that “vision does not become reality without huge amounts of forward thinking. In addition to looking at design briefs and technology requirements, I am involved in the key areas of resourcing and curriculum planning.”

Ms Baum also emphasised the importance of building strong relationships with parents and creating “a culture of excellence”.
