Cardiff Reform Synagogue has set up a five-person committee to rebuild "cordial relations" with Rabbi Charles Middleburgh, who resigned suddenly last month after a dispute with shul executives.
"Our synagogue has had a blip, no one could deny that," said congregant Barbara Michaels, who edits the local Jewish journal, Bimah. "But we haven't fallen into a dark hole. Our synagogue is set up nicely with a trio of very good wardens and a good membership. We are carrying on. We do hope things will get ironed out, but it's not going to happen immediately."
Since the departure of its long-serving part-time rabbi - who is also a senior lecturer at Leo Baeck College - services have been conducted by wardens.
Rabbi Middleburgh has declined to comment.
