Shul joins the Tribe as it picks youth leaders

articlemain

Prestwich Hebrew Congregation has appointed three youth leaders in the region's first association with Tribe, the youth arm of the United Synagogue.

Aliza Schogger, 18, will lead the eight to 11 year olds, and Shauli Gordon, 21, and Yoni Harris, 22, will lead the Shrubberies' 12-plus age group.

Synagogue president Clive Sayers said the community "is delighted to welcome the Tribe presence to our shul, and are looking forward to a mutually fulfilling relationship. The three leaders all have a wealth of experience in working with young people."

Ms Schogger, a former pupil at Manchester King David High, is currently on a gap year after completing her A levels. Mr Gordon is a first year civil engineering student at Manchester University where Mr Harris is currently studying philosophy.

Mr Gordon said he wanted to "thank the members for being so warm in welcoming us to their shul. We look forward to a strong and rewarding relationship between the three of us, 'Tribe' and the 'Shrubbs' community."

Tribe manager Avi Friedmann said: "This is an exciting project for us. 'Shrubbs is such a lovely community and we are looking forward to many thrilling events for youth in the area."
