United Synagogue educational leader and Stanmore Synagogue community development rabbi, Andrew Shaw, is leaving the US to become Mizrachi UK's CEO.
Rabbi Shaw founded Tribe, the US's youth arm, has been instrumental in Holocaust memorial projects, and is currently director of its education-focused living and learning department.
He sees his move to the religious Zionist organisation as a natural career progression, saying: The experience I have gained working at the US will be invaluable in promoting Mizrachi UK's centrist Orthodox outlook and its commitment to the people and state of Israel.
"This is something that I know resonates strongly with United Synagogue members and I look forward to a vibrant Mizrachi UK working closely with the US."
Mizrachi UK chair Steven Blumgart said "Rabbi Shaw's unique capacity to inspire and innovate" made him the ideal choice to take Mizrachi to the next level.
At Stanmore, which he joined in 2000, the synagogue leadership was "very sorry to see him go.
"But we are confident that our search to replace him will attract tremendous talent."
