Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis started off his own Shabbat UK at Edgware Synagogue, where hundreds danced around the shul during the Kabbalat Shabbat service.

Then a capacity 220 crowd joined Rabbi Mirvis for Friday night dinner in the shul hall. Highlights of the following day's activities included a Shabbat communal lunch and a musical havdalah for 140 children and their parents, culminating in a spectacular firework display. Edgware minister Rabbi David Lister said: "Every element of the day's activities was a great success. The mood in the shul was upbeat throughout and I and all involved are delighted with the way it turned out."
