Glasgow youth groups have pledged to work together in a bid to encourage greater involvement.
A Giffnock meeting -"Our children, our future"- attracted 30 people for a discussion on how to engage youth and hopefully slow the rate of decline in the community.
Held under the aegis of Glasgow Jewish Representative Council, it was organised by GJRC youth representative Sue Faber.
Ms Faber was delighted with the turnout and the positive atmosphere.
"It was really about all the youth movements meeting to talk about common difficulties and ways of working together. We're hoping this will lead to an action group that will meet regularly."
The big common difficulty was falling membership. But Ms Faber said that "if we work together, we can have bigger and better events, reach out to unaffiliated children and teenagers and recruit dynamic youth leaders".
It is hoped the Maccabi buildings will be used for joint events and JLGB has announced it will be moving its activities to Maccabi after the summer.
