Forty Jewish Care Scotland supporters set off on Sunday on a Jewish heritage trek to Latvia and Lithuania.
The trekkers - from as far afield as America and Israel - made their first first stop in Riga, visiting the thriving new Jewish Community Centre and the refurbished synagogue.
Speaking from Riga, the charity's chief executive Suzanne Neville said: "It's been very enjoyable but also very emotional. There are half-a-dozen people on the trek who are exploring family connections. One member had a grandfather from Zagare, one of the biggest shtetls, so visiting there and seeing the killing grounds of 1941 had an impact.
"Everyone's bearing up and we're well looked after by tour organiser Max Kramer, who has donated his time for free."
