A Leeds Brodetsky Jewish Primary governor has resigned after being arrested for an alleged assault following a domestic incident.
Jonny Ross, 35, who chaired Brodetsky's funding and marketing committee, was arrested after police were called to the north Leeds property he shares with 27-year-old Charlie Mullen. The couple had worked together at David H Myers opticians, where Mr Ross was a former director.
He now runs an internet business and is involved in charitable work including the Leeds Jewish Community Pride awards.
West Yorkshire Police said Mr Ross had been charged with common assault. He is due to appear before Leeds magistrates next week.
Brodetsky governors' chair Alan Dunwell said: "Mr Ross resigned as a governor. It is not our place to comment on the reasons."
