Edgware's Rosh Pinah Primary has entered new territory by calling in a private educational group to oversee change.
The move follows disputes between parents and governors in the previous academic year.
A trio of executive teachers from Lilac Sky Schools - which has worked with 70 schools over the past four years and has sponsored academies - will assume the Rosh Pinah reins in June.
Andrew Rotenberg, who became governors' chair in September, explained that "the extra support that Lilac Sky School brings to the table will let us meet our target of Rosh Pinah becoming an outstanding school within the next two or three years".
But he stressed to parents that Rosh Pinah would retain ties with Barnet Council as a voluntary-aided school rather than convert to academy status.
The move reflects a concerted effort to leave behind the unrest of last year, which culminated in the departure of headteacher Anthony Wolfson in the summer. Interim head Alison Flegg - who Mr Rotenberg said had done "a tremendous job" since her arrival in June - had made clear from the outset that she would stay only for a year.
The new head will be Angela Gartland, who has led Little Ridge Primary School in East Sussex for 12 years.
Guidance will also come from an executive head, Steven Clark, and an associate executive head, Matthew Slater, a former deputy head at Yavneh College in Borehamwood.
Mr Rotenberg said the school would "benefit from having an entire dedicated team of senior leaders and managers and teaching and learning coaches, all with a proven track record of raising standards and improving grades". Lilac Sky would be "relentless in its pursuit of driving up standards".
The education group's Outstanding Teacher Diploma programme would help fulfil that aim, while Ms Flegg had introduced the "exciting and challenging" international primary curriculum.
On the Jewish front, Rabbi David Lister has become honorary principal. Rabbi Jonathan Spector will take the role of second deputy head in charge of Jewish studies and pastoral care in September.
