Football fans at Jewish Care's Vi and John Rubens House in Redbridge had a ball as two Leyton Orient stars paid a Mitzvah Day call.

Defender Ben Chorley and striker Alex Revell from the League One club found a number of lifelong O's supporters among the Rubens residents and got as much out of the visit as they did.

"The residents put a smile on our faces," Chorley said. "I've never met anyone aged 104 before and I hope I'm as sharp as they are when I get to that age. I loved listening to some of the stories, especially the one about the poodle that had its own seat at the football ground."

Revell added: "The residents are brilliant and I really enjoyed it."
