Remembrance day

articlemain

Organisers of Sunday's Hyde Park ceremony to commemorate Yom HaShoah - the Jewish re-membrance day for Holocaust victims - are hoping for a four-figure turnout.

The Forum for Yom HaShoah, a cross-communal initiative, points out that there will be two dozen other commemorative events around the country.

Forum chair Neil Martin said that whereas Holocaust Memorial Day was about increasing awareness in the wider community, Yom Hashoah was a time for internal reflection and education. It would show the community was ready to carry the legacy of survivors forward to future generations.

The Hyde Park ceremony will be at the Holocaust memorial at 11am.
