The annual regional get-together of the Association of Jewish Refugees attracted members from throughout Scotland, as well as Newcastle.

The day's activities at Edinburgh Hebrew Congregation included guest speaker Paula Cowan of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, who gave a presentation on "The Changing Face of Holocaust Education".

Sue Kurlander, head of AJR services, highlighted the role of the organisation's social work services. Jan Botch, a German member of Action Reconciliation Service for Peace - sending out students worldwide to help those who suffered Nazi persecution - discussed his year working with AJR members.

The gathering split into three groups to debate issues such as "Are HMD and Yom Hashoah commemorated as you wish?"
