One of Israel's foremost military men, Major-General Yoav Galant, gave expert insight on the Middle East situation at a West End dinner for Beit Halochem UK, a charity supporting Israeli war veterans and victims of terror.

Lord Finkelstein hosted a panel discussion with the major-general and Israel ambassador Daniel Taub. An emotional appeal by charity chair Dennis Levine to the 420 guests helped to swell the proceeds to £730,000.

Beit Halochem chief executive Spencer Gelding said that "as every Israeli soldier is prepared to defend the state of Israel, in turn, the Jewish people must continue to care for the casualties of war".
