Radlett's platinum couple

Radlett Synagogue’s oldest member was called up on Shabbat as part of the celebrations of his platinum wedding anniversary.

Harry Morris, 96, and his wife Rene, 92, were married on November 1, 1942 at the Egerton Road shul in Stamford Hill. Seventy years on, they have two children, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom were with them at the weekend.

After serving in the Home Guard during the war, Mr Morris worked as a mechanical engineer and later helped to set up a chemical plant in Ashdod, where the couple lived for a year. They later worked in a business producing table plans for barmitzvahs.

Founding members of Kenton Synagogue, they are now senior Radlett congregants.
