Rabbis earn their Spurs, despite defeat to legends team

Ministers play in team representing Laniado UK in fundraiser for Netanya hospital

A team of Laniado UK players were thumped 5-0 by a Spurs Legends XI including Mark Falco and Stuart Nethercott. But they raised £15,000 in the process for Laniado’s Netanya hospital.

The game was played at Allianz Park, home of Saracens Rugby Club, and the Laniado side included a number of rabbis.

Among them was Dovid Usiskin, formerly of Chabad Bristol, who said facing the ex-pros was “a bit of a step up” for the team of occasional players and Power League five-a-siders. But they “gave it a good shot.

“Most of the guys were friends of the charity, or people who have been involved with it in the past.

“All the Spurs players seemed very happy to be there — and most importantly raising money for charity. The work the hospital does makes it worthwhile.”

Pascal Chimbonda and David Howells were also in the Spurs team.
