Rabbi's amicable pay cut

A north London rabbi's salary has been reduced through "a mutual decision".

The announcement on the pay of Rabbi Moshe Mayerfeld of Shomrei Hadath Synagogue in Hampstead was made at the congregation's AGM on Sunday.

Rabbi Mayerfeld, who has served the modern Orthodox community for two years, attributed the salary cut to his increasing workload with outreach organisation Aish.

"It was just about me matching my schedule with the needs of the community," he said. "The tone of the meeting was positive and conciliatory.
