South West Essex and Settlement Reform Synagogue held a community meeting as the first step in the process of appointing a new minister.
Rabbi Michael Pertz is currently on sick leave and will be departing from the Newbury Park congregation at the end of October.
During the festival period, services are being led by the shul's emeritus rabbis, Henry Goldstein and Maurice Michaels.
