Shadow Sports Minister Hugh Robertson was impressed by the all-round endeavours of pupils he observed during a visit to an Orthodox boys’ school in Brent.
The Faversham and Mid Kent MP was ostensibly at the Torah Teminah Primary to watch 100 pupils taking part in a weekly skills session run by a Football Association coach under the auspices of the FA Tesco Skills Programme.
He said it was “terrific to see so many boys getting such high quality sports coaching.
“However, there was also a most impressive sense of discipline and purpose about everything I saw at the school which could not have been bettered.”
Five FA delegates were also at the session, designed to emphasise the value of teamwork and self-expression and incorporating problem-solving and interactive elements.
Torah Teminah head Anthony Wolfson said “the boys love to play football. They learn the basics of the game as well as developing their teamwork and strategy skills. We were delighted to welcome the FA delegation, who came to see how the programme is impacting.”
