Police target Charedim in recruitment drive

Positive response to Hackney initiative to increase the number of Jewish officers.

Hackney police held a recruitment drive among the Stamford Hill community this week in conjunction with the Jewish Police Association.

PC Danny Phillips from the JPA answered questions from several dozen visitors about roles within the Metropolitan Police, such as a police constable, Met special constable, police community support officer or a Met volunteer.

Inspector Jonathan Clinch said the event demonstrated the Met's commitment to engaging with all communities, particularly those thought to be under-represented in the force. "Our ultimate hope is for a police force representative of the people of London."
