Police go on board after bus attacks on pupils

Patrols stepped up following incidents involving Hasmonean students

articlemain

Police are patrolling buses taking Hasmonean High pupils to and from school after attacks on them in recent weeks.

Pupils on the 240 bus taking them from the boys’ school in Hendon to Edgware were physically and verbally abused on Wednesday last week and the property of one was destroyed.

Police are also reviewing CCTV evidence of an earlier incident on a 113 bus carrying students from the girls’ branch of Hasmonean in Mill Hill.

Andrew McClusky, the school’s executive headteacher, informed parents this week that both uniformed and non-uniformed officers were patrolling buses and bus stops.

Children were advised to travel in groups rather than alone, to avoid openly using mobile phones, not to respond to provocation and not to “be tempted to carry illegal items”.
