Norwood’s help for eight-year-old Emily, a victim of parental abuse, is highlighted in its Pesach appeal, which has a £100,000 target.
Its theme is the miracle of the parting of the Red Sea — and how Norwood’s work within the community provides minor “miracles” to the many thousands who rely on the charity’s support.
In Emily’s case, Norwood provided counselling and found her a long-term foster placement with a caring family. Also featured in the appeal is Daryll, a 15-year-old with learning and physical disabilities.
Another charity looking to raise £100,000 is World Jewish Relief, which asks supporters to look beyond their Seder table by helping out their extended and less fortunate Jewish family overseas.
Nightingale’s Pesach Housekeeping Appeal is geared to raising £90,000 for the South London home for the elderly. Marketed in the form of a booklet of tear-out vouchers to fund the home’s day-to-day running, donors can pay from £20 for 50kg of potatoes to £1,000 to provide a Seder night.
