Former residents of the Norwood Orphanage in South London are being sought for a major reunion in London in September.

Norwood Old Scholars’ Association secretary Jack Matthews is trying to track down old boys and girls from the orphanage, which closed in 1970. He hopes that more than 200 will be at the reunion.

Mr Matthews, who lives in Ilford, Essex, was at the orphanage for six years until 1954. “I haven’t seen most of my friends there since that time,” he told the JC.

“We had another reunion 13 years ago but this is a chance for people to meet up again as well as to introduce newer members. It will be a great opportunity for us all to reminisce,” Mr Matthews added.
