Three days into her job as the Reform Movement rabbi, Laura Janner-Klausner paid her first communal visit to Manchester's three Reform synagogues.
Rabbi Janner-Klausner enjoyed a Friday-night meal at the Sha'arei Shalom Synagogue in north Manchester, where she told congregants that her main priority was to help Reform communities achieve their full potential.
On Shabbat morning, she delivered the sermon at the city-centre Manchester Reform Synagogue. She spent the afternoon at Menorah (Cheshire Reform) Synagogue, leading the study circle on the mitzvot of Shabbat and also discussing the movement's decision-making.
She was back at Menorah on Sunday, addressing 80 people at a Leo Baeck seminar on "Nurturing Spirituality in your Community".
"It was wonderful to spend my first Shabbat in this role in a city with such a long and strong Reform Jewish history," Rabbi Janner-Klausner said.

"I had a warm and enthusiastic welcome and it has been a real pleasure to spend time learning, praying and meeting with our three lively communities here."
