Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron, Tory Party deputy chair Robert Halfon and shadow health minister Luciana Berger were among MPs who took part in a Mitzvah Day social action project in a packed Commons committee room.
The MPs wrote cards to staff at various charities, thanking them for their contribution to society. They also learned more about Mitzvah Day and its aims.
Mr Farron praised the day as "a model for social action. It reflects the values that Liberals hold dear, bringing people together to make a difference to their local communities. It's about empowerment, responsibility and integration."
Labour's Stephen Timms, who chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Faith and Society, said it was "an impressive example of how barriers between faith communities can be overcome through goodwill and social action". Mr Halfon went further, declaring: "I love Mitzvah Day. It's the duty of every Jewish person to give back to society."
The event was organised in conjunction with the APPG and the Board of Deputies.
