Mill Hill Jewish primary school plan

articlemain

Parents in Mill Hill are gauging interest for a new Jewish nursery and primary school.

Adam and Debbie Dawson, who have two children under the age of three, have organised a meeting this month.

A Facebook group, Interested in a new Jewish Primary School in Mill Hill, attracted over 200 members in just three days.

Mr Dawson, a 34-year-old barrister, said that local Jewish primary Mathilda Marks is heavily over-subscribed, as are Rosh Pinah in Edgware and Sinai in Kenton.

This year, there were 150 applications for Mathilda Marks and only eight non-sibling places available. The 80 under-fives attending the children's service at Mill Hill Synagogue suggested a "crying need" for a school, Mr Dawson said.

"We're trying to meet a real need and provide something for the Mill Hill community."

A new school would also attract more Jewish families to the Mill Hill area.
