Jewish Blind & Disabled is bringing them in young with its new Super Hero scheme for the primary school age group.
For a £6.50 monthly contribution - £10 combined for two or more children - a Super Hero receives a pack including a wall chart and stickers, key ring and certificate. They fill up the wall chart by doing a "good deed" (room tidying); a "great deed" (visiting an elderly relative) or a "super deed" (raising money for JBD). Their reward is an invitation to a special Chanucah party.
"As a community we are rightly proud of our charitable acts and support for those less fortunate than ourselves," said Hazel Kaye, JBD's chief executive. "However, we cannot take this giving for granted as something that will automatically continue from generation to generation without a helping hand along the way."
