Councillor Louise Hyams is heading for a fall when she becomes Lord Mayor of Westminster next month.

In support of her mayoral charity, For Dementia, the 56-year-old grandmother is planning a sponsored parachute jump.

“The charity promotes Admiral nurses, who are specialists in dementia care, and helps to support families and carers,” Councillor Hyams told the JC. “My mother has dementia so I know first-hand how difficult it can be.”

A Tory Westminster councillor since 1998, she sees the mayoral position as a “365-day-a-year job”. She is a member of West London Synagogue, whose senior rabbi Mark Winer will be her chaplain.
