The London Jewish Forum, liaising between the Jewish community and the capital's authorities, has appointed a former Union of Jewish Students campaigns officer as its new director.
Peter Mason will join the forum this month after running the office of shadow health minister Liz Kendall.
Mr Mason said the coming year would be important, "with the mayoral and London Assembly elections in May, when it is vital that the voices of Jewish Londoners are heard. We will be working to ensure that the candidates take on board the community's issues.
"The Olympics follow in August, which provides the community with an unrivalled opportunity to showcase its facilities and contribution to London to the many visitors."
